Our Play Space

Painting, sharing a story and independent hand-washing.

At Little Explorers we are lucky to have the use of some great, new facilities provided by Prestbury Parish Council. This includes our large, bright playroom with role-play and messy-play space, construction area, investigation station and well-stocked, well-used comfy story corner. We have our own kitchen space which we use to cook and for our sociable group lunchtimes.

Independent personal care is supported and encouraged through use of our child accessible toilets with hand-washing facilities aimed at helping children on the road to autonomy in self-care.

We also have a well covered outdoor cloakroom that children can use to access their coats and bags themselves.

“A great foundation from which to move on to school – thank you.”

OUR OUTDOOR SPACE

Situated on a large public playing field, we enjoy free-flow outdoor play once we have taken the register. Secure in our own fenced off area at the back of the Pavilion building, we offer opportunities to play, learn and develop through carefully chosen activities and open ended provision. With everything from physical apparatus for climbing, balancing and sliding to cosy corners to snuggle up and share stories no matter what the weather, we aim to offer experiences and opportunities to suit all interests, abilities and needs.

Outside the children can find a mud kitchen, space to dig and grow flowers, ride on toys to develop balance and initiate chase games! We also provide table top spaces outside to encourage new conversations and role play invitations based on our termly story theme or keen interests that week. There are the classics too such as chalks, painting easels and a very basic (but very effective) water bucket and paint brushes to engage in large mark making!

A story in a quiet spot

“the sheer range of activities and facilities available to the children both inside and outside makes it such a fantastic place for them.”
